My Religion
To the reader: If this is your first time on my blog, many greetings; If you've been here before, happy returns to you. Everything you read here will be my genuine unfiltered thoughts and secrets, explaining in full detail everything about me, piece by piece. I wish that you read on without prejudice or judgement, for I am not a perfect person, and I hope that you can connect and empathize with my life's story. -Alex
'What is your religion?'
This is a question I am asked rather frequently. In the bizarre on-goings of my life, I often meet people who are either shocked, appalled, intrigued, or all-of-the-above'd by my exterior visage. I am like a chameleon at times, changing face to suit the environment, and this naturally compels those I meet to wonder what my innermost beliefs are.
The short answer is simple: I'm a pseudo-atheist. By this I mean that I do not believe in the existence of a greater power or being, ie. God, Allah, Zeus, etc, and I am heavily influenced by the constant revelry that science provides as to the on-goings of the world around us. I do however believe that in some form or another, everything is connected (by what I jokingly refer to as spiritual 'entropy'). Some would call me Agnostic for this belief, but Agnosticism holds the ground that a deity may or may not be real; I strictly disagree to the existence of a sentient deity, and instead indulge myself in the concept that everything is linked in a way that we cannot, and never will, understand.
There is a certain unity that we hold with others around us. Friendships forge stronger links, and hate breaks those chains. We are drawn to others with more entropy, and as human beings we wish to help and heal. Those who deny this instinctive measure are, in Chaplin's words, cold and machine-like. To understand the connection of which I envision the world to have, all you have to do is sit in silence and notice the small details of our surroundings. We impact the things around us, the same way the surroundings impact us. This connection is the driving force behind my ideal that the more we understand ourselves, the more we understand the surroundings, and vice versa; Without a past, there can be no future. By disciplining ourselves to respect the environment, we create our own harmony in which we live.
Within me, there is one constant factor that will always hold true: When I open my heart to someone, I open my soul to them, and because of that, a part of them will always remain within me, in my heart, in my soul, in my essence as a being. The connections I've made through the ages are permanent, like ink tattooed into the skin of my body. I care too much. When we are once friends, we will always be friends, and when I love you, I will always love. That is my constant, that is my belief, and often enough, that is my curse.
That is my religion.
